I. Adding a Server​

The first and foremost step involves adding a server. In the platform selection, select cPanel or cPanel (JailShell)

JailShell​

Some hosting providers such as Hostgator use a shell called JailShell. JailShell is a restricted shell that allows users to access only a limited set of commands. Jailshell destroys the running process after a certain period of inactivity. This is why the agent is not able to run continuously. The agent will run only when the backup is triggered.

How to know if your provider uses JailShell​

You can check if your provider uses JailShell by running the following command:

echo $0

If the output ends with jailshell, then your provider uses JailShell.

JailShell Limitations​

  • Only daily backups are supported.
  • Agent uptime alerts are not supported due to the nature of JailShell. However, all other alerts are supported.
